In keeping with its philosophy of partnering with key agencies the CSR Task Force has established an alliance with the Ministry of National Security in the development of Police Youth Clubs in’ fenceline’ communities. This programme is in accordance with the mandate of the Task Force and it focuses initially on youth clubs in Couva, La Brea and Siparia. The Ministry sees the Police Youth Clubs as “an important component of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service community relations strategy’ and an excellent vehicle for youth development. Some of the main objectives of the programme are to ‘prepare youths for positive roles in national development’ and to ‘provide and effective machinery through which the youths would appreciate the value of good discipline, self-respect and respect for others.’
The partnership with the Ministry also includes support for the Ministry’s innovative ‘Pan Adolescent Partnership Imitative’ which uses the steelband as another mechanism for youth development.
