Corporate Social Responsibility

A significant part of NEC’s mandate is the sustainable management of the environment in which it operates.  We are committed to utilizing our knowledge, expertise and resources for the benefit of all citizens.  This resolution is demonstrated in our relationships with key stakeholders.

The Government of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago

As a state-owned organization, NEC is directly accountable to the Government and by extension, the people of Trinidad and Tobago.  We therefore work in close collaboration with various governmental agencies to ensure that the benefits to be derived from Trinidad and Tobago’s energy resources are maximized and managed in a sustainable manner.

NEC is represented on several working committees including the Local Content Committee, the Renewable Energy Committee and the Corporate Social Responsibility Task Force which consists of major state energy companies and the Ministry of Energy and Energy Affairs and the Ministry of Sport and Youth Affairs.

Civil Society

NEC has undertaken to enrich the communities in which we operate.  We do this through communication and public education, capacity building and financial and environmental support of communities.  We develop relationships with community-based NGOs and CBOs to ensure that assistance is delivered to those who need it.

Employees

At NEC we believe that our people are our greatest asset. Through communication, training and mentorship we are developing future leaders.  We endeavour to be an employer of choice where every employee is motivated to always do his/her best and works in a warm, friendly environment that encourages his/her personal and professional growth.
