Marine Terminal Operations
National Energy Corporation of Trinidad and Tobago Limited (NEC) owns and operates six (6) unique multi-user petrochemical and steel terminals - the Savonetta Piers and ISCOTT Dock - located in the Point Lisas Harbour on the west coast of Trinidad.
In accordance with IMO guidelines, these petrochemical facilities are classified as hazardous cargo terminals. In 2009 over 4.5 million tonnes of petrochemical product including ammonia, methanol, urea and base oil were handled at Savonetta Piers 1 and 2. In the same year Savonetta Pier 3 saw the export of methanol and direct reduced iron (DRI) and the import of iron ore totaling 3.0 million tonnes of product. Savonetta Pier 4, NEC’s newest pier, having been completed in 1999, handled 3.0 million tonnes of aggregate, iron ore, DRI, methanol and ammonia in 2009. Read More>>
Towage and Harbour Operations
NEC has built up a solid reputation as a reliable local tug service provider. Our tug operations were initially established to support the activities of the Point Lisas container and petrochemical terminals. We remain responsible for supplying tug services to all vessels calling at the Port of Point Lisas, Trinidad located 10°24'.2N, 61°29'.6W in the Gulf of Paria about 20 km north of Venezuela. Over the years, we have expanded our operations and today, NEC owns a fleet of 9 tugs and 1 launch boat commercially operated to service all the local ports of Trinidad and Tobago and other regional markets.
