On January 20th 2012, NEC’s Business Development Department held an “Open House” at the company’s Head Office, opening its doors to staff and to Standard Five students of the Milton Presbyterian Primary School. The open house was held to promote the activities of the department, increase general awareness about the role of Business Development and foster a feeling of camaraderie among staff.
Starting with a festive Soca Parang in December 2010, Business Development invited the staff in song to the event, followed by several teasers in the weeks leading up to the Open House. These teasers included an Energy Industry Quiz, an Energy Word Search and an innovative game called “Where is Arden?”; highlighting Business Development’s interaction with various stakeholders in several well known locations. The lucky prize winners were:
Energy Industry Quiz -Shiva Bachoon
Energy Word Search - Kerry-Ann Modeste
“Where is Arden?”- Maria Bridgemohan
At the Open House, staff learned about various downstream products and visited the Renewable Energy Bus containing solar water heaters, PV solar cells and a Wind turbine. But the climax of the day was a well contested game of Wheel of Fortune highlighting Business Development operations, Business focus areas; including Petrochemicals, Plastics, Metals, Renewables, Biochemicals and Specialty Chemicals and Inorganics; and key projects. After many heated rounds the “EDC Ladies” comprising of the dynamic duo of Koreen Simon and Nikesha Victor were victorious in taking home two thousand dollars (2000) in winnings.
